WHO SAYS? A Discussion of Church Teaching and Our Response
Many of us are interested — and perhaps a little confused – about the Catholic belief system. What is the role of the Pope? Do all Catholics believe the same things? Are some beliefs more critical than others? Jude Olivetti, our speaker this month, will shed some light on this topic in a casual atmosphere in which all of your questions are welcome!
Jude Olivetti is the chairperson of the religion department at Trinity High School in Camp Hill, PA. He has taught religion at Trinity since 2003. He is an active member of St. Joseph Church in Mechanicsburg where he leads a “Centering Prayer” group. Jude lives in Mechanicsburg with his wife and two young daughters.
What is Theology on Tap?
Simply put, it’s an evening of good food and drinks with others just like you who want to hear more about their faith and talk about the issues that matter. Young adult Catholics from around the Harrisburg area – that’s 20’s and 30’s, married and single, whether you’re practicing religion or searching on your own – are coming together to hear engaging speakers from this area and beyond, and to join in meaningful conversation.
What goes on at one of these events?
The evenings include a presentation on a timely, relevant topic, the opportunity for questions and discussion, as well as time to relax and mingle. The talks will deal with faith, love, and modern day issues both in & outside of the Church. The evenings are relaxed and casual – and fun! Not only do the gatherings create great opportunities to explore the faith, but they are fantastic places to meet other people of like minds and beliefs in a comfortable setting. Theology on Tap is designed to provide young adults from all walks of life with straight talk on faith — and its implications on our daily lives, communities and even our society!

Q. Do I have to be Catholic to attend?
A. No. Though Theology on Tap is supported by the Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg, it open to all young adults from the region. All we ask is an open mind and respect for the speaker and the conversation.
Q. I’m not a regular at my Church. Can I still come?
A. Whether you’re practicing or searching, Theology on Tap provides an environment to engage your faith in an informal way. While not a replacement for attending Church, we do hope that even those who do not practice will be able to benefit.
Q. Is there a cost to attend?
A. Thanks to the generosity of our hosts we are able to offer these evenings with no admission fee. The only cost is if you wish to purchase your own food and drinks from the bar.
Q. Do I have to RSVP if I’m coming?
A. We would greatly appreciate it. Anyone who shows up is welcome, but by giving us an idea of what to expect we can better prepare. You can easily RSVP through our Facebook page, Theology on Tap – Harrisburg.
