A volunteer who delivers these cards shared this: "Thanks as always for the special cards made for the Bethany residents. The pictures and words expressed by students fill a large gap in the lives of many Bethany residents. As we opened cards with residents, their eyes told the story that they knew someone had remembered them. Pictures of bunnies, flowers and stick people reminded them of their Easter's past."
Mission Statement
The Card Blessing Ministry extends Saint Joseph Parish’s welcoming Catholic culture by offering our youth the opportunity to make encouraging cards for various members of our faith community. This ministry inspires its participants to be service-minded individuals as they grow to become disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Interested in helping?
The Card Blessing Ministry is open to children in kindergarten through eighth grade. Seventh and eighth grade students can earn one half hour of service hours for each card that they make (with a maximum of five service hours per year from this ministry). All cards must be on 8 ½ by 11 inch sheets of paper (any color) and can be dropped off in the Religious Education Office, at the front desk of the Parish Office, or in the metal drop box located directly outside of the Parish Office. Participants may submit cards as frequently as they would like and at any time throughout the year. (Cards are particularly encouraged for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and Easter.) Please do not place the cards in envelopes or address them to specific individuals (use the greeting “Dear Friend” instead).
